Overview
RocatPro is a Warehouse Management System (WMS) that manages large volumes of inventory, documents, and transactions.
As data continued to grow, the existing basic search was no longer sufficient for users who needed to locate specific records quickly and accurately.
This project introduced an Advanced Search feature that allows users to define multiple search parameters and logical conditions, enabling more precise and efficient data retrieval.
The Problem
Before this feature was implemented, users relied on a single search input with limited filtering capabilities.
Key Pain Points
Difficult to find specific data in large datasets
Users had to manually browse or re-search multiple times
No way to combine multiple search criteria
High cognitive load when dealing with similar or repetitive records
This resulted in wasted time and reduced efficiency during daily operations.
The Goal
Allow users to perform more precise searches
Support complex search scenarios without overwhelming the UI
Reduce time spent finding specific records
Keep the experience flexible but easy to understand
The Solution โ Advanced Search Popup

An Advanced Search modal was introduced to extend the existing search experience without disrupting the main workflow.
Key Capabilities
Multiple search rows with configurable parameters
Field type selection (e.g. object, document, asset)
Criteria-based filtering
AND / OR logic for flexible conditions
Ability to add or remove conditions dynamically
The popup design keeps complexity contained, while giving power users full control over search behavior.
UX Considerations
Progressive disclosure: Advanced options are hidden by default and only appear when needed
Clarity over complexity: Each row follows the same pattern to reduce learning curve
Scalability: Designed to support future filter types and conditions
Non-blocking: Users can cancel or refine searches without losing context
Design Details
Consistent form layout for easy scanning

Logical operators (AND / OR) made visually distinct
Subtle visual separation between search conditions
These decisions help users build complex queries without feeling overwhelmed.

Faster and more accurate data discovery

The Advanced Search feature significantly improved how users interact with large and complex data within RocatPro.
Key Learnings
Complex systems require power features, but not complex UI
Logical operations must be visually clear to prevent errors
Modals are effective for advanced actions when designed carefully
